      Introduction to Yoga $40/4 classes A gentle introduction to the stretching, strengthening, breathing and relaxation exercises of Yoga. This class will give you the basic building blocks of a yoga practice. The week will balance strength and relaxation as you explore the asanas and pranayama of a Yoga practice. Yoga Summer Camp will deepen your practice, awakening the body & calming the mind. Monday-Friday, July 24-29  7-8:30am Fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga Express $40/2 weeks This summer we are compressing our usual Introduction to Ashtanga Series into two Saturday afternoon workshops. You will be introduced to the basic structure and flow of yoga postures in the Ashtanga tradition. This will prepare you to join the Saturday morning Ashtanga class if you wish to. An Afternoon of Restorative Yoga    $25/class                          Restorative yoga has been called “the antidote to stress.”  This form of yoga consists of supported poses that lead to deep relaxation and profound openings.  By relaxing deeply into each of the poses physiological changes occur that are beneficial to health and that can reduce the effects of stress related diseases. (MYTT bring notebooks) Jennifer Glynn Saturday, Aug 26 1pm Yoga for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)   MYTT ONLY $35 In this class you will learn the theories and techniques for working with Yoga students who are coping with symptoms of PTSD. The class will include an understanding of the neurobiology of Trauma and an experiential component. Elaine Fillion-Crouse, LICSW has worked with clients dealing with PTSD for over 25 years.Trained in many cutting edge trauma treatment modalities, including Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Elaine also teaches “Trauma, Treatment and Recovery” in the Social Work MSW Program at Bridgewater State University. Saturday, August 19   11-2pm Yoga for Kids Series (6-12 years old) $40/4 classes In this 4 week session children will learn a variety of yoga poses through quiet practice and games. In these ancient Yoga Sutras, Patanjali lays out a path for those who wish to “still the mind”. His aphorisms are practical statements of methods for attaining this stillness. He also explains the 8 steps of classical yoga, the various paths of yoga and more. This class will help deepen and broaden your knowledge of Yoga. Diane Friday, Aug 25 7:30pm Tai Chi                                                                Originating in China, Tai Chi is a graceful form of martial art that today is practiced primarily for its health benefits, which includes relief from stress and anxiety, increased flexibility and coordination. It is often referred to as "Meditation in Motion" as it works toward harmonizing mind, body and spirit. It is based on the concept of "chi"- the life force that flows thru the body that at  times can be blocked. In Chinese Medicine it is believed that illness can arise from such blockages. Tai Chi is recognized as one of the means for releasing the free flow of chi within us.Taught by Edward Roselli, Certified Tai Chi and Kung Fu Teacher. Space is an illusion upon which the currents of music and  words will weave together the tapestry of the moment. Combining the powerful energies of poetry with the hypnotic vibrations of musical bowls (Steve Coburn) and the meditative melodies of the Native American Flute (Jerry Lagadec), “Currents” will create an experience of flowing sounds that will relax yet energize the listener at a very deep level. You will be drawn into a new “space” where silence and sound mirror one another.                                                                                         Saturday, June 24  7pm   Middle Eastern Belly Dance with Amar Gamal      Bellydance is one of the oldest forms of dance having roots in goddess rituals, childbirth preparation and social celebrations. It’s an expressive art form that celebrates the feminine body through  its uniquely designed movements. The movements are characterized by intricate body isolations with a main emphasis on the hips and torso. However, the entire body gets a full low impact workout.  The movements will help stretch and tone your body, increase your stamina, body control and awareness. Bellydance is for all ages, body shapes and cultural backgrounds. Wear comfortable clothing, bare feet and a hip scarf. Come celebrate this beautiful feminine art form in a supportive and fun atmosphere! We will review and polish the basics, add new variations to them and learn the next series of movements. This course is also great for those more experienced students wanting to clean up the basics.   Continuing Bellydance Course     Designed for students who have taken the Basic Beginner and Polishing the Basics Courses 3 or more times. Basic moves will be layered to other movements, new steps will be introduced adding them all together in step combinations. Detail to technique and posture will be highly emphasized. Zills (finger cymbals) will be introduced. Shimmy Galore $25 Shimmies are an integral part of Bellydance and one of the most exciting. In this class you will learn the secret behind powerful shimmies. You will learn how to polish, control and layer shimmies and vibrations, plus other hip techniques essential to building a strong Bellydancer. All levels welcome. Wednesday, June 7 6-8pm Introduction to Saidi Cane Dance $25 Saidi Cane Dance known as “Raqs Al Assaya” is a cheerful and upbeat dance from the Sa’id (Upper Egypt), in which the dancer twirls a cane in playful imitation of the men’s regional martial art. (The men’s version, Tahtib, is performed with heavy staffs.) Raqs Al Assaya may be presented as folkloric dance, or adapted for cabaret-style Oriental dance. In this 2 hour workshop, Amar will introduce and teach some of the basic Saidi moves. *Appropriate for Basic Beginner Bellydance level students and above.(Canes will be provided) Wednesday, June 28 6:00-8:00pm Bellydance Mom and Me   $30 Come celebrate” being you” as we explore the expressive art of bellydance.  This workshop is for mothers and daughters (any family member and child) to enjoy a special time together dancing, laughing and creating sparkles of fun.
