      Introduction to Yoga $40/4 classes A gentle introduction to the stretching, strengthening, breathing and relaxation exercises of Yoga. This class will give you the basic building blocks of a yoga practice. Saturdays, Oct 5 - 26 (Danille)              1pm   Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga $40/4 weeks This series of classes is designed to introduce the practitioner to the basic structure and flow of yoga postures in the Ashtanga tradition. Two instructors will be present to provide individual attention and to ensure a safe and healthy practice. (After the 4 weeks, you will be able to attend one free class in the Saturday 7am Ashtanga and one free class in the Monday 5pm Ashtanga)  Evelyn Herman and Jake Craig Saturdays, Nov 16-Dec 7 1:30pm Yoga for Runners $25 Think you're not flexible enough for yoga? Join yoga teacher/runner/triathlete Danielle Levesque to learn why flexibility isn't all there is to yoga! This workshop will explore how yoga poses (asana) can increase strength and range of motion, reducing your risk of injury. You'll also learn specific poses to rest and restore your body, so you can be ready for race day, whether your first 5k or your first 50k! Sunday, Nov 10 2pm Psychology of Yoga Part 2 $25 This class concentrates on the Chakras and how they provide an expanded developmental model in conjunction with the Yoga Sheaths to think about and experience the concept of the Self in Yoga Psychology. Lecture and discussion as well as concentrations, meditation, mantra, breath work and imagery are used to work with the chakras to develop awareness regarding the rich template they provide for our unfolding consciousness. Sunday, Sept 8      1pm   Psychology of Yoga Part 3 $25 Students will share a brief paper on their own spiritual development using their learning about the Yoga Sheaths and Chakras. Class will include group discussion and practices. Sunday, Oct 20     1pm   Yoga Sutra Discussion $10 The Yoga Sutras form the basis of classical yoga; they provide the philosophy behind the practice and are a necessity for any serious student of yoga. Study of the Yoga Sutras will help deepen your personal practice and make your teaching more informed. To prepare for this class please read and be prepared to discuss any Sutra in Book 1 or Book 2. Diane Saturday, Sept 7     1pm Yoga Nidra Series:The Peaceful Yoga Practice  $30/3classes Yoga Nidra translates as “Yoga Sleep” or “Wakeful Sleep”. It is a practice that induces physical and mental tranquility thereby ridding the mind of chronic tension and inducing deep relaxation, inner knowledge and meditation. Each class will include a gentle yoga sequence followed by guided Yoga Nidra. Appropriate for all levels. Saturday, Sept 21 1pm Yoga of Breath $20 Focusing on pranayama, this workshop will cover various Yogic breathing exercises and let you experience the relaxing and harmonizing effect that these practices can have on mind and body alike. Explore the relationship between the breath and your body's energy and nervous system. Please refrain from eating immediately before class. This form of yoga consists of supported poses that lead to deep relaxation and profound openings. The series of four sessions will allow for greater reflection and trust building as we journey together into body, mind and soul. Introduction to Mindfulness $35 Mindfulness is paying attention to our experiences in a way that allows us to respond rather than react. Created by ancient rishis from the seed mantras of the Vedas, the sounds are designed to resonate with the chakras. As powerful as it is, kirtan is effortless and incredibly enjoyable! Come and experience this joyful but deep form of practice.  Saturday, Sept 14 7pm Middle Eastern Belly Dance with Amar Garcia                                                                          Bellydance is one of the oldest forms of dance having roots in goddess rituals, childbirth preparation and social celebrations. It’s an expressive art form that celebratesthe feminine body through  its uniquely designed movements. The movements are characterized by intricate body isolations with a main emphasis on the hips and torso. However, the entire body gets a full low impact workout.  The movements will help stretch and tone your body, increase your stamina, body control and awareness. Bellydance is for all ages, body shapes and cultural backgrounds. Wear comfortable clothing, bare feet and a hip scarf. Come celebrate this beautiful feminine art form in a supportive and fun atmosphere! Let's discover together different regional styles, moves with their cultural context and significance. In this workshop, you will learn the roots of the North African dances with a deep understanding of their evolution across time and the different influences. We will end the workshop with a chaabi dance for a complete vision of what chaabi means in MENA culture (all dance levels welcome).
